Do not ask “is the road open?” only.
The weakest part of the whole stage decides whether you go. Check warnings, every road segment, wind, fuel and your fallback before starting.
Warnings first
Look at the destination and the roads between—not only your current location. A tall camper makes wind especially important.
Inspect every road segment
Open, caution and closed are not the same as comfortable. Read the condition description and never drive around a closure.
Check wind, visibility and rain
Ask whether you can hold the lane, open a door safely, see the road edge and stop without sliding—not whether the legal speed is possible.
Protect fuel range
On remote stages, refill before you need to. Confirm the next reliable station and keep a physical payment card with PIN.
Name the fallback
Choose a turnaround point, a shorter stop and a campsite before leaving. If there is no safe fallback, the plan is too brittle.
One serious warning is enough.
A closure, severe warning, uncontrolled crosswind, doubtful river, poor visibility, driver fatigue or no safe fuel margin overrides the itinerary. A booking is not a reason to enter an unsafe road.
